The Eat Without Waste (EWC) initiative aims to address the challenge that is single-use packaging food containers scatterings across our land and in our oceans requires us to address entire value chains, rather than just the packaging itself.
EWC has been working to establish a granular view of Hong Kong’s take-out waste landscape, to define the solution space, in order to provide a realistic set of achievable goals, to help reduce the volumes of single-use packaging waste. They have embarked on an extensive programme of desk-top research, fieldwork, and interviews with local and international experts and stakeholders. Different solution types are inventoried and assessed for their relative merits against multiple environmental, economic, and social metrics.
Fostering change by communication and mobilisation across core stakeholders through both structured and ad-hoc interventions is key.
